RT-VSM Tool is a real time voltage stability monitoring software tool developed at SGDRIL, WSU. It can run online and monitor the following key metrics in real time –

  • Wide area system voltage stability (using a unique ‘non-iterative’ algorithm)
  • Voltage magnitude & angle of all buses
  • Real & reactive power consumption of all load buses
  • Real and reactive power flow in all transmission lines
  • Angular separation between all buses

These key metrics are displayed on the different visualization windows of the RT-VSM Tool in real time, and can give a clear indication of system stress to the power system operators in a control center.

Online Simulation Result Demo Video Of RT-VSM Tool

This demo shows the online simulation results of the RT-VSM Tool when run on an IEEE test system using a cyber-physical test bed, consisting of RTDS (Real Time Digital Simulator), hardware & software PMUs (synchronized to a GPS clock), hardware relays, communication network (using NS3), and hardware & software PDCs (Phasor Data Concentrators).
